Navigation aids include buoys, lighthouses, beacons, and radio sites. These serve to guide mariners around coastlines. For both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, the Commissioners of Irish Lights (CIL) are the statutory authority for the provision of Aids to Navigation (AtoN). These aids are located at over 230 sites, and consist of both onshore and offshore fixed structures.
